A native of Portland, Oregon, Vandever is a graduate of Columbia University's MFA program in film. She is the Co-writer and Associate Producer of the independent film JUST ONE TIME which premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival and screened on the Oxygen Channel.
She's the author of the novel THE BRONTE PROJECT, published by Random House (US) and Simon & Schuster (UK) and translated into Spanish, Italian, and Polish. THE BRONTE PROJECT was also optioned for film by director Nisha Ganatra (Late Night, The High Note). A second novel, AMERICAN TANGO was published in 2016.
Her work has appeared in First City, The Village Voice, and The New York Times. She has optioned numerous screenplays to both independent and studio-based producers.
Vandever is an adjunct professor teaching courses in Screenwriting, Screwball & Romantic Comedy, and Women in Film for Emerson College's Los Angeles program as well as its low residency MFA program in Dramatic Writing. She divides her time between Portland and Los Angeles where she lives with her husband.
